I purchased this soundbar for a Sony widescreen with poor sound. The goal was to get better sound, especially voice, without having a subwoofer on the floor or speakers hanging from the walls like monkeys.Out of the box, this sound bar was a bit bigger than I expected, but after raising the tv up about an inch, it fit nicely in front without blocking the screen or remote sensor. Set-up was simple with all wires included, though I did have to call JVC customer support due to my own wiring mistake, but the cs person was very friendly and helpful.If you're not looking for a home theater that will blast you through the wall or bring out every little fine detail of sound, this is for you. The sound and voice quality is a distinct improvement over the tv speakers.

After careful consideration, I purchased the JVC THBA10 Soundbar to go with my LG 47-inch hdtv. The LG has a digital OPTICAL output only which limits uing soundbars made by many other manufacturers. The soundbar has two digital optical inputs and 2 rca type inputs. The soundbar itself produces a great seperation for surround sound with acceptable adjustments for bass and for the center speaker sound. It is no substitute for a large home theater system, but for a soundbar with only 4 speakers it is quiet awesome. Maximum volumne is limited a bit but for a guy such as myself that wears hearing aids, the sound level is more than adequate. It provides a much needed improvement for human voices on the television which is usually needed by everyone watching the new hdtvs with those tiny built in speakers. The bar itself is heavy (11 pounds) and stands a little high if you place it in front of the tv. (which you may have to raise a bit if the soundbar interferes with the tv remote.) The remote for the soundbar is a nice size and easy to see and use. I attached the soundbar remote to the tv remote by using rubber bands..doesn't look technically great but it works!. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to upgrade the sound coming from your hdtv, especially to the hard of hearing as it produces sharp clear voices and is easy to install and operate. It's also a plus for us older folks that need to see thekeys on the remote. This product can't be beat in its price range!

I initially purchased another brand of soundbar from Amazon and ended up returning it due to poor performance and purchasing this instead. Although this soundbar had less than half as many speakers as the previous one I had purchased, the sound was quite a bit better and has no distortion. You won't get incredible bass, but I was very impressed with the "surround sound" that could be produced by 4 speakers in a row, and that's what sold me on this model. I don't regret buying this JVC soundbar at all!
