FYIChecking out this product, I noted that Amazon said that customers could buy this in conjunction with a toslink optical cable.This suggests that there is an optical input on this device.There is no optical input. Only analog (miniplug or L/R RCA with a supplied adapter).no HDMI, no COAXIAL, no TOShttp://amzn.com/dp/B007I36VZA/?tag={bestratecellr-20} OPTICAL.Just the facts, ma'am.This this will not work with most HDTV sets that have only an optical output.You could plug it into the headphone jack, but most no longer have that.You would need an adapter ($20-100) to go from digital to analog. I got this because I wanted to improve the quality and clarity of the sound on our 40-inch Bravia TV. I did not, however, want to install a series of satellite speakers for surround sound, or find a place for a subwolfer.This speaker is a big improvement over the television's built in speakers. The only slight annoyance is the fact that uses a separate remote -- but that's a small consideration, and the sound is much more filled out, and clearer.

I went to Fry's and automatically the commissioned agents spit on all the soundbars under 200$. But when the manager and I started speaking (and my wife glared at me on the price) it was clear all I needed was to hear a more clear tv and not some theatre sound...............and 90$ could solve this problem opposed to dropping my savings.It's 90 dollars and will take care of your crappy flat screen audio. My new tv had a muffled audio, Vizio speakers are crap. This sound bar is not some "OMG, the room is alive with surround" but at least you can hear the people speak clearly and I definitely hear a bit of base improvement.It does what is intended. I use it in combination with my tv speakers. For 90$ I wasn't expecting to change the sound of the world, those systems start at 200$ and end at 3K. This will provide perfectly good sound until your ship comes in for a surround sound system.Tip: Make sure you have audio RCA output on your tv. A lot of the new tvs don't have this old style output. Also set your tv to "variable audio" to keep the tv speakers and soundbar in synch using only one remote. If one speaker is a little off from the other, use the soundbar remote to adjust the soundbar volume and volaa they are in synch. You can use your old remote now and forever.
