HD has great sound too--who knew? This was easy to set up and fits nicely ON TOP of our 40 inch Toshiba flat screen. We have it hard cabled to a UVerse cable box with a digital optical cable and it can also pair with up to 6 blue tooth devices. We have used it with a Nokia Lumia Windows phone, an IPhone 4S, and a new IPad,It has a separate remote and power switch which we've gotten used to but it would be better if we could figure out how to integrate the volume and on/off with the cable remote.There are several different modes for the sound, but the LED display on the bar has the smallest labels in the world and the remote button labels aren't very descriptive... so we have selected the different modes, but can never really choose them intentionally since it's hard to figure out what mode it's in.The main thing to realize is that this soundbar REPLACES your TV speakers. We had all kinds of static while using with the TV until we fired up the pdf user manual on the Hitachi website and learned we had to completely turn off the TV speakers using the TV set up menu. And that was trial and error since there were several options to turn off.All and all, we are happy with it. It has better sound at lower volumes and can be turned up much higher than the TV speakers if needed.

I purchased one of these (exact same model #) from a local discount members club. We are using it in our bedroom with a 42" TV. The sound quality is quite impressive, especially for the size and price! It won't give you room rattling bass of course (there is no separate subwoofer) but it has a nice deep rich sound and plenty of volume for a small room. The bluetooth seemed a little flaky when connecting, but after pairing my iPod and iPhone, they seem to work fine, it just took several tries. I think part of the problem is it's hard to tell what mode you're in, as the indicator lights on the unit are very tiny and difficult to decipher. I have my TV connected using RCA jacks and a Playstation 3 connected via digital optical. The simulated 3D surround mode does a pretty decent job on movies, actually feeling like sound is coming from the sides at times. The best part for me is, dialogue is MUCH easier to understand coming through this unit, as opposed to my TV speakers. I'm very pleased with the product and feel it is an excellent value.
